A Website Secret & Strategy

The secret:

We’ve been pretty much winging it with our website game. I mean, the name Genius House started as a joke and our first website was Adam’s younger brother’s college assignment. The drone video prominently featured on our previous homepage was shot from a friend’s rooftop patio. We’ve always had pride in being scrappy problem-solvers, but the truth is, a solid website was long overdue.

It was time to build a site that is a true reflection of our company today. Naturally one of the goals was to showcase our work, services, and some of the recognizable brands that we have worked with. We also felt it was important to highlight the people and capabilities that make up our talented (and still proudly scrappy) team. And overall, we wanted to ensure confidence that we are an approachable and trustworthy partner to current and potential clients. Ultimately, we wanted to make it crystal clear that Genius House Media is an accomplished and fairly priced video production company.

How did we go about that?

We started with self-exploration into what is unique about our video production company. With the help of our branding and design agency, we answered the following questions, and many more.

  • What makes us different than other video companies?

  • What do we offer that is different than top video production companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?

  • What companies do we look to for inspiration?

  • Why have past and current clients chosen to work with us?

  • What are the most common pain points that our customers deal with? How do we solve them?

We discussed our identity as a team, interviewed clients, and basically had a mini corporate existential crisis. Then it was time to calm down, write some copy, sift through our best work and put our newfound knowledge into action. We argued about using the word “fanny” on our site, did a photo shoot, had multiple meetings with the Evangalist team, and now here we are.

To boil it down to a few words in closing:

We are a growing company. We love to see companies grow through badass video. We are good humans and we love to see other good humans succeed. Thank you for being here, reading this, and caring.
